The grant will be used to purchase a new printer which will enable GH Display, based in Werrington, Peterborough, to print on a broader range of materials, including fabric displays, that will enable them to increase productivity.

The £3,000 grant has been provided by Signpost 2 Grants from Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP to help GH Displays buy a specialist printer costing over £17,000.

This printer will make GH Display’s operations faster, more environmentally friendly and more competitive within their market. It will particularly help when pitching for government contracts as these tend to put emphasis on the environmental credentials of products and production processes.

It will also enable them to offer better value print options thanks to the new production process which will, in turn, attract more business, and help GH Display to grow their business and client base. The investment is also expected to create a new job role within the company.

Neil Darwin, Chief Executive of the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP, said:

“This Signpost 2 Grants award will enable GH Display to become more competitive within their market, which is exactly what the programme aims to achieve. It can be challenging for SMEs to raise the capital they need to purchase new equipment, which can prevent growth.

“The purchase of this new printer will enable GH Display to expand their in-house product offering and help them work quicker and smarter. Helping SMEs secure the funding they need to grow also helps create new jobs, and I am pleased to see that the team at GH Display will be looking to recruit a print technician as their orders increase.”

John Hodson, Managing Director of GH Display, said:

“The grant has given us the opportunity to invest in our printing technology, allowing us to widen our services, increase our productivity and supply our customers with flawless, high quality graphics. In the first month of having the new printer we have seen a huge improvement in our production times as well as a reduction in ink costs. We can’t thank the grant scheme enough for their support and investment in our growing business.”

Signpost 2 Grants is a small capital grants scheme being funded and delivered by the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP as a part of its CPCA Growth Hub service. The grants are being offered to local businesses looking to make a capital investment to help grow their business.

Grants of between £2,000 and £20,000 are available to local SMEs that are looking to invest in new equipment, new machinery, improvements to their premises, or other capital purchases. The grants can be used to fund up to 20% of a total project cost, to provide businesses with the extra help they need to grow.

Businesses must be located within the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough LEP area to apply, which covers Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Rutland, West Suffolk, West Norfolk, Uttlesford, North Hertfordshire, South Holland and South Kesteven.

Signpost 2 Grants is accepting applications now, and further information can be found online at www.signpost2grants.co.uk.
