Angels & Dragons: The essentials of raising equity

Thursday 3 March 2022  |  11am – 12.45pm

Raising equity is very different from raising other types of finance, but it can really accelerate the growth of your business.

If an external investor is getting an attractive deal, and you get to scale your business and benefit from their expertise, it’s a win-win scenario. But most businesses are not appropriate for equity, and even those that are don’t realise how long it will take, or what is really needed to be successful in such a highly competitive process.

This intensive and fast-paced masterclass will equip you with the real essentials: everything you need to know to decide whether your businesses is appropriate for private investment, and about what it takes to be fully investment ready. It’s vital education about preparation needed before you face highly experienced professional investors who have heard about ‘unbeatable business propositions’ hundreds of times – and turned them down.

Led by successful businesswoman and experienced angel investor, Bev Hurley CBE who really understands the process from both sides of the fence, you will learn how to:

  • Understand if you and your business are right for equity investment
  • Identify types of investors you should avoid, and those you want, and where to find them
  • Understand critical information investors need to see your business plan and financials
  • What goes into teasers, pitch decks and data rooms, and what doesn’t
  • Core components of a term sheet, timescales, judging the ask… and much more

PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS

“I found the presentation inspiring and daunting in equal measure. This was my first foray into the topic of raising equity and I realised I hadn’t done enough research, so some of the slides were a mystery to me. I believe my business plan will require equity in some form so this workshop has proved invaluable – I now know an awful lot more than I did. Thank you for presenting an open and honest overview of the process, pitfalls and benefits.”

“The webinar was refreshingly informative and helpful in that as well as check lists of items included in the various activities and documents supporting the funding application process it included reference to some of the pitfalls and dangers awaiting the ignorant and naive entrepreneurs entering the funding market. A relaxed, professionally presented, interactive and useful experience.”

Who is this course for?

This course is for business leaders employing 3 – 249 staff who are looking for significant scale and are committed to building shareholder value.
