The acquisition will help Allia support start-ups and small ‘impact’ businesses grow, with its model of flexible workspace and free business support

Allia has bought the SmartLIFE Low Carbon Centre for £4million and will create a Future Business Centre Cambridge campus.

The building, previously owned by Cambridge Regional College, will provide more offices and co-working space, along with lab space and a large top-floor conference suite at the site off King’s Hedges Road.

The acquisition, enabled in part by funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), means Allia also has expanded car parking space.

Cambridge fit-out specialist COEL is working on an upgrade of the space, and it is hoped it will open by October 1, or possibly in September.

The combined spaces will be rebranded as the Future Business Cambridge Campus, a move that could potentially be replicated at Allia’s Peterborough site in future.
